During this type week,
we celebrated Helvetica's 68th anniversary, created our own fonts, and experimented with Ji Lee, this is inspired expressive typography by designing words like "freedom" or "war" and its appearance reflected their meaning

Helvetica 68th Anniversary!
With Helvetica, its one of the most iconic fonts since its creation from 1957 and i designed a research page dedicated to Max Miedinger's font as he designed it. The font shows a clean simple and highly readable sans-serif font from Switzerland. Its neutral, modern style made it the best, widely used typefaces in the world.
T_YPE Ji lee response
At the start of T_ype week we were introduced to the work of Ji lee a famous designer who created short phrases and bringing words to life. I responded to this by creating simplistic designs using the words society, renewable, freedom and war.
Font Design
To create my font, Spotbet, i used the website "FontStruct" , which allowed me to design each letter using a grid system and simple geometric shapes. i experimented with different block and circular forms to develop a bold, digital style typeface that feels unique to make. Spot would work well for digital designs, posters or headings where a strong an eye-catching font is needed. The name "Spotbet" just represents the repeated dot details and patterns throughout the typeface.
